Did you know that drowning is the number one cause of death by accidental injury for children ages 1-4? For people under age 24 drowning is the third most common cause of accidental death. You’ve got to learn how to swim, especially if you plan to spend time at the beach or the pool!
The The Ben Hair Swim for Life Foundation and Girls Inc. of the Greater Peninsula have entered into a new partnership to host Learn to Swim Programs. This is an exciting time for both organizations as this unique and historical collaboration will provide new opportunities for many minority youth within the Hampton Roads area to learn to swim at an affordable cost.
With this partnership, we anticipate and foresee that girls and boys (Boys Leadership Alliance) who are attending one of the various Girls Inc. sites across the area to increase their knowledge of water safety and learn to swim and subsequently decrease the state and national accidental drowning death.
